Are there any similarities between Animal Rights and Animal Welfare?

I am a student at Bel-Rea in CO and in my Lab Animal cl we have to write a paper on animal rights vs. animal welfare, and im stuck on trying to find similarities, there are lots of differences but no similarities that i can find, so far all i can come up with is that both groups care about the well-being of the animal, but they have different ways of going about it, any views or opinions or even websites would be helpful, thanks.
